“Terima kasih atas kesempatannya.

Gen Z, Gather Around! UPJ Communication Students Peek Behind the Scenes of WIKA Beton’s IR & PR
The atmosphere at MTH Tower on Thursday (11/6/2026) felt slightly different. That day, the office of PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WIKA Beton) welcomed dozens of enthusiastic young faces. They were students of the Communication Science Study Program with a concentration in Public Relations (PR) from Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ).
This industrial visit was not structured like a rigid public lecture. WIKA Beton’s Investor Relations (IR) and Public Relations teams invited the students to engage in a casual discussion regarding the scope of their work, while concurrently analyzing how university theories are implemented in the highly dynamic industrial world.
Interestingly, this experience-sharing session operated as a two-way dialogue. Instead of merely being listeners, the students were challenged to voice their perspectives. The WIKA Beton team was certainly open to accommodating various suggestions and fresh ideas from the younger generation for the company’s future communication strategies. Through this fluid discussion, the learning process was not exclusively for the students; WIKA Beton also absorbed new insights from the perspective of Gen Z.
WIKA Beton’s Investor Relations & Public Relations Department Manager, Sarah Regina, was also present and provided motivating perspectives. She shared that the professional working world highly values flexibility and the willingness to continuously learn, regardless of the degree written on one’s diploma.
“Friends, almost everyone in the IR and PR teams here has an educational background that differs from our current positions. Therefore, it does not rule out the possibility for you to pursue a career in a different field,” stated Sarah.
Furthermore, she emphasized the vast potential possessed by Communication Science students.
“What I mean here is, I want to show that although almost all of the IR and PR teams are from different backgrounds, you can still create great work. Especially for you from Communication Science, the scope of the knowledge is exceptionally broad,” she imparted warmly.
This highly interactive visit received a positive response from the university. Suci Marini, the accompanying lecturer from the Communication Science Study Program, also expressed her hope that this one-day experience at WIKA Beton could serve as a tangible provision to bridge the academic and professional worlds.
“Thank you for the opportunity. The students can obtain an overview and the opportunity to pursue a career in this field, as well as learn firsthand regarding the structure, functions, and duties of PR. The hope is that this meeting can also prepare them for practical work and their future careers,” she stated.
This valuable experience evidently left a profound impression on the minds of the participants. Many of them just realized that corporate communication functions on the stock exchange evidently intersect closely with investor affairs.
“I came to know that at WIKA Beton, the PR function can coexist with Investor Relations, and it turns out the scope of work is very broad,” said a UPJ student at the end of the event.
Through this encounter between the industrial and academic worlds, WIKA Beton once again proved its commitment. Not only being experts in constructing physical infrastructure, the company also takes part in building and inspiring the capacity of Indonesia’s younger generation.
