Commitment of PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WIKA Beton) to achieve sustainable business by reducing carbon emissions was recognized with two awards at the "Best Corporate Transparency and Emission Reduction 2024" event. The awards ceremony was organized by Media Investortrust.id and the Bumi Global Karbon Foundation (BGK Foundation) on Wednesday evening (29/5) in Jakarta.
The two awards are:
- Gold Category for Transparency in Corporate Emission Calculation
- Green Category for Corporate Carbon Emission Reduction.
Currently, Indonesia ranks among the top 10 countries with the highest carbon emissions in the world. Through Law Number 16 of 2016 concerning the Ratification of the Paris Agreement to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the government is committed to addressing climate change, including efforts to reduce carbon or greenhouse gas emissions.
In response to this, WIKA Beton has consciously undertaken various efforts to reduce carbon emissions, including installing solar panels, using eco-friendly cement, and promoting zero-waste production.
