LRT Phase 1B Now Operational, Marking 900 Days of WIKA Beton’s Contribution
PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WIKA Beton) has successfully completed its role in the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) Phase 1B megaproject on the Velodrome–Manggarai route, which has been officially operational since September 16, 2026.
The construction of this transportation infrastructure, which ran from 2024 to 2026, spanned a total of 900 working days.
In executing this project, WIKA Beton contributed through the main contractor joint operation (KSO) comprising PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, PT Nindya Karya, and PT Len Railway Systems, handling the engineering process as well as the supply and installation of infrastructure components for the 6.4 kilometer double track stretching from Velodrome to Manggarai.
This is not WIKA Beton’s first involvement in the LRT project. Previously, WIKA Beton participated in the construction of the LRT Phase 1A project on the Kelapa Gading–Velodrome route.
WIKA Beton’s success in Phase 1A strengthened the company’s credibility, earning it the trust to participate once again in the LRT Phase 1B Velodrome–Manggarai route.
In Phase 1B, WIKA Beton’s scope of work encompassed the entire trackwork, ranging from technical engineering and material procurement to installation and commissioning. Key supplied components included rails, rail fastening systems, precast sleepers, buffer stops, turnouts (switches), guardrails, and insulated rail joints.
The entire installation process demanded high precision to overcome complex challenges arising from curve variations and the dynamic elevation of long-span steel box girders.
Despite facing technical challenges in the field, WIKA Beton successfully accelerated and optimized its working methods, ensuring the timely inauguration and operation of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B while strictly adhering to quality and safety standards.
Corporate Secretary of WIKA Beton, Ignatius Harry, emphasized the company’s commitment and track record in supporting public transportation connectivity.
“The public can now experience the benefits of LRT Phase 1B. Through this project, our technical capabilities in the railway sector have been further proven. WIKA Beton will continue to strengthen its role in delivering public mobility solutions.”
WIKA Beton’s involvement in developing this transportation system further expands the company’s portfolio diversification and delivers added value for stakeholders and the wider community. As part of Danantara and Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), WIKA Beton remains committed to supporting the advancement of Indonesia’s infrastructure.
