5 Tahun Belajar, 1 Hari Mengajar, Srikandi WIKA Beton Ini Paparkan Tentang Green Construction

Bertepatan dengan rangkaian peringatan Hari Bangunan Indonesia yang diinisiasi PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk, PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WIKA Beton) hadir dalam seminar “Sustainability Construction to Build Our Future” di Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB), Jakarta Barat, Rabu (4/11).

Sebagai #ConcretExpert, WIKA Beton terus memperluas edukasi mengenai pembangunan infrastruktur berkelanjutan khususnya kepada generasi muda. Hadir sebagai narasumber mewakili WIKA Beton, Vice President of Engineering, Quality and HSE Division, Festy Ratna Aditama, membagikan wawasan industri di hadapan mahasiswa/i Program Studi Teknik Sipil.

5 Years of Studying, 1 Day of Teaching, WIKA Beton’s Female Leader Presents on Green Construction

Coinciding with the series of Indonesian Building Day commemorations initiated by PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk, PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WIKA Beton) attended the “Sustainability Construction to Build Our Future” seminar at Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB), West Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/11).

As a #ConcretExpert, WIKA Beton continues to expand education on sustainable infrastructure development, particularly to the younger generation. Attending as a speaker representing WIKA Beton, Vice President of Engineering, Quality and HSE Division, Festy Ratna Aditama, shared industry insights before the male and female students of the Civil Engineering Study Program.

The civil engineering educational background that she pursued for 5 years to earn two academic degrees underscored the relevance of Festy’s presence on that academic stage. This close synergy between the industry, academia, and the younger generation is expected to accelerate the formation of a green construction ecosystem in Indonesia.

In her presentation titled “Green Construction in the Precast Industry”, Festy highlighted the challenges of climate change in the construction sector. Currently, the production of cement as the primary raw material for concrete accounts for approximately 8 percent of total global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

According to her, precast concrete technology serves as a turning point for change because it shifts the working process from the field to a more controlled factory environment.

Through mix design and the utilization of cement substitute materials such as Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) and fly ash, the precast production process is able to minimize waste while measurably reducing carbon emissions.

“Green construction with precast concrete is not merely a trend, but becomes a real solution to build infrastructure that is lower in carbon, more efficient, and certainly sustainable.”

On the operational line, WIKA Beton implements a comprehensive green transformation from upstream to downstream. This step includes the use of renewable energy through solar panels (PLTS) on factory rooftops, manufacturing digitalization, and a non-waste operational program.

WIKA Beton has also birthed various green product innovations, such as cementless geopolymer concrete (100% non-cement), porous concrete, and Concrete Reef Units for coastal ecosystem restoration.

Eco-friendly claims must be proven through verified data. This commitment is realized by WIKA Beton through the implementation of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as well as the attainment of the international Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for its PC Spun Piles product.

This consistency has also led WIKA Beton to achieve an S&P Global ESG score of 71/100 and rank first nationally in the construction materials industry.
